Accessibility Statement

The Zumtobel Group AG is committed to making its Thorn and Zumtobel brand websites accessible, in accordance with the Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz (WZG BGBl. I. Nr. 59/2019 idgF).
This accessibility statement applies to Thorn & Zumtobel websites.
Compliance status
These websites are partially compliant with Conformance Level AA of the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1” and the applicable European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council, due to the non-compliances or exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
a. Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Some elements on this website currently present accessibility challenges that are being addressed to meet WCAG 2.1 and EN 301 549 standards:
Contrast and Readability
Some error messages, input field borders, and text are currently low-contrast or very small, which may hinder readability, especially for users with low vision. Uppercase text may have insufficient letter spacing, reducing legibility. Text sizes, contrast ratios, and letter spacing will be improved to comply with WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.4.3, 1.4.4, 1.4.8, 1.4.11 and 1.4.12.
Images, Alternative Text, and Multimedia
Certain images currently lack alternative text, have overly long text, or contain redundant descriptions. All alternative text will be revised to be concise, descriptive, and contextually accurate. Videos without captions will be updated to include both dialogue and relevant non-speech information, ensuring accessibility for users who are deaf or hard of hearing, in accordance with WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.1.1, 1.2.2., 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5, 1.2.7 and 1.2.8.
Forms and Controls
Some form fields are missing labels or have labels incorrectly associated with controls. All form controls will have clear, properly linked labels or ARIA attributes, and redundant or misused title attributes will be removed. Interactive widgets will be configured with only one tab stop per component to ensure efficient keyboard navigation. Buttons, links, and form controls will remain separate elements and not nested inside one another. These changes address WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 1.3.5 1.3.6, 2.1.1, 4.1.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.4, 2.4.7, 3.3.1, 3.3.2, 3.3.3 and 2.4.5
Headings, Tables, and Structure
Empty headings, buttons, and table headers/captions will be updated with meaningful content. Complex tables will have properly defined headers and scope relationships, and all tables will include captions where appropriate. All headings follow a logical hierarchical order from <h1> to <h6>, and landmark regions are used to structure the page. These improvements ensure screen reader users can efficiently navigate and understand content, in line with WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 1.3.6, 2.4.1, 2.4.3, 2.4.6, 2.4.7, 2.4.8 and 4.1.2.
Links and Navigation
Redundant links (e.g., product images and names linking to the same page) will be combined. Links currently distinguished by color alone will include additional visual cues such as underlining, bolding, or symbols, and all links will maintain sufficient contrast. A “Skip to main content” link allows users to bypass repeated blocks and menus efficiently. These changes comply with WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.4.1, 2.4.1, 2.4.4, and 2.4.5.
PDFs and External Content
Links to PDF documents may have accessibility limitations and often require external software. We will ensure PDFs are accessible where possible and inform users when a PDF will open, in accordance with WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.1.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.5, 1.3.1, 1.4.3, 2.1.1, 2.4.1, 2.4.2, 2.4.4, 2.4.5, 3.2.1, 3.3.1, 3.3.3 and 4.1.2.
SVGs and Graphics
Non-decorative SVGs and graphical objects will include accessible names and, when necessary, descriptions, making content fully perceivable via assistive technologies, in line with WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.1.1, 1.3.1, 1.3.3 and 4.1.2.
Touch Targets and Interaction
Touch targets that are currently too small or closely spaced will be increased to at least 24 px, ensuring usability on touch devices. All interactive elements can be operated using a keyboard, with a logical tab order and standard in-widget navigation, supporting users with motor impairments or who rely on assistive technology, in accordance with WCAG 2.1 success criteria 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.7, 2.5.5 and 4.1.2.
Footer, Social Media Icons, and Site Tools
All footer and social media icons will be visually and programmatically distinguishable as interactive elements. Accessibility settings, including text resizing, color/contrast modes, motion control, and multimedia controls, will be provided to enhance inclusivity and user experience.
Testing and Quality Assurance
This website undergoes automated testing and manual audits to ensure compatibility with assistive technologies, proper keyboard navigation, and visual/structural clarity, addressing potential barriers for all users in line with WCAG 2.1 and EN 301 549.

Enforcement procedure
If the response from the above contact is not satisfactory, you may file a complaint with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints filed online via the electronic contact form.
The FFG will examine whether the complaint relates to violations of the Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz (WZG), particularly to failure on the part of the federal government or associated institutions to comply with the accessibility requirements
If the complaint is justified, the FFG will make recommendations for action to the federal government or the legal entities concerned and propose measures designed to remedy the problem.
Further information on the enforcement procedure

This accessibility framework is based on the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), which has been transposed into national law by EU Member States.
